WORK WITH US

Our goal is to make every partnership a success. We work with our partners to choose from a variety of options, such as making canoes, kayaks, paddles, skateboards or lacrosse sticks, hosting a one-day immersive outdoor experience or a multiple-day outdoor adventure

Logistics

The first step is learning about your kids. Then we’ll work together to make sure there is an appropriate space, our plans are appropriate for the group, and we have a schedule that works for everyone.

For any building project we’ll bring the wood, tools, fasteners and other materials to your school. We typically work in groups of 6 to 10 kids for about 2 hours at a time. A typical schedule is one group works from 8am to 10am, another from 10am to noon and then a third group works after lunch.

For the field trips, we’ll bring canoes, life jackets, paddles, first aid kits, and campfire cooking gear to a local park. We’ll rotate the kids through various activities before they return to school in time for their normal transportation routines.

Requirements

We can almost always find a solution to resource constraints, but the ideal scenario for our two most popular activities are:

CANOE BUILD

  • An open space, at least 20’x12’

  • 10 to 50 kids (5th grade through high school)

  • 7 to 8 days within a two-week period

  • 2 or 3 sturdy tables

  • Access to water and electricity

  • Teachers or parents to help supervise younger kids

FIELD TRIP

  • Food and beverages for the kids and teachers

  • Two or more adults, depending on age

  • Transportation to and from the park for the kids and participating teachers

  • Kids dressed for the outdoors

Funding

Let’s not let funding prevent working together. Funding sources have included school activity funds, a grant from a foundation, and selling the first boat to create a fund for future building projects.

Metrics

We are constantly seeking to make our programs and approach more appealing and relevant to participants. With this goal in mind, participants and school staff receive a standard questionnaire before and after every program.
